Nigerian Buyer Checks Out Used Dump Trucks at Chinese Factory on July 16

A team of Nigerian construction and logistics executives paid a visit to a Chinese manufacturing plant on July 16 to personally inspect a batch of used dump trucks they're eyeing for their ongoing infrastructure projects back home.

The delegation spent the better part of the day walking through the factory floor, climbing into the cabs, starting up engines, and taking a close look at the frames and hydraulic systems of several HOWO second-hand units. These tipper trucks, known for their rugged build and relatively affordable price tag, have become a go-to choice for many West African contractors over the past few years.

"We wanted to see these machines with our own eyes," said one of the Nigerian representatives during the tour. "Pictures and videos are helpful, but when you're moving heavy materials day in and day out on rough roads, you have to be sure about what you're buying."

Factory staff walked the group through the reconditioning process — how each used dumper truck gets stripped down, checked for wear, and fitted with new filters, fluids, and replacement parts where needed. The company says every unit goes through a strict inspection routine before it ever gets cleared for export.

The visit wasn't just for show. By the end of the day, the Nigerian side confirmed a sizable order, although exact numbers weren't disclosed. The trucks are expected to be loaded up and shipped out to Lagos Port in the coming weeks.

For the Chinese supplier, this visit represents another win in a growing trade lane. Nigeria has been one of the biggest markets for used heavy-duty vehicles out of China, driven by a steady need for affordable equipment to support road building, mining, and urban development.

The two sides wrapped up the day with a handshake and a promise to stay in touch on future purchases. One factory manager summed it up simply: "They know what they want, and they know how to check if it's good. That's the kind of customer we respect."
